Meet us in the in Old Market Square to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and we will introduce you to some basic signs in British Sign Language; then you will be able to communicate l’amour to your family and friends in a new and surprising way!
School Re-union
A reunion at Eastwood Hall bringing together former pupils of the Ewing School for the Deaf and William Sharp School to share memories of friendship and learning.
National Deaf Awareness Week
A week of activities at Nottinghamshire Deaf Society for deaf school children in Nottinghamshire in celebration of National Deaf Awareness Week, including story telling, history trail, drama, roll play giving an insight into the deaf community, role models and tracing the roots of the organisation back to the 1890s.
World Deaf Tennis Championships
The Tennis Foundation, Great Britain’s leading tennis charity, in association with UK Deaf Sport, host the inaugural World Deaf Tennis Championships at Nottingham Tennis Centre from 20th to 27th July 2015. Get involved in this new event for elite players, and also take up the opportunity to try tennis for yourself at the ‘Come and Try Tennis’ Day on 25th July.
Deaf Awareness Conference
A conference and exhibition held at a prime city centre venue to run workshops, seminars and BSL taster sessions. Open to the public, this conference will debate key themes affecting deaf people and their families, and will be an opportunity to find out what you can do to support the work of NDS.
Summer Entertainment Spectacular
Conference delegates are invited to attend an evening of fun, entertainment and refreshment focusing on deaf arts, music, drama, poetry, theatre and everything that is to be celebrated in the creative world of the deaf community.
Commemoration Service
An event celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Nottinghamshire Deaf Society, with the Bishop of Sherwood The Rt Revd Anthony Porter giving thanks for the many people who have helped and supported deaf people and a re-dedication service for NDS.
Grand Finale – 125 Celebration Ball
Join us for a sparkling night of fun and celebrations at our Ball as we reflect on our year-long fundraising campaign. A chance to celebrate with sponsors, partners and benefactors who have supported us throughout our anniversary year. We will acknowledge those volunteers who have helped and supported the organisation in its long history with the announcement of the 125 Commemoration Awards
